Ford Performance and SEMA Garage Collaborate With Jay Leno to Restore 1968 Bronco

Craig Ferguson thought he was playing an innocent joke on Jay Leno by leaving a 1968 Ford Bronco Wagon in Leno’s parking spot. Little did he know that for a car enthusiast, it was the perfect gift. However, the highly desired Ford Bronco model sat untouched in Leno’s garage for years. It wasn’t until after Ford announced the return of the Bronco that conversations of restoring Leno’s vehicle ever came about. Now, the iconic SUV finally received its new and improved look with the help of Ford Performance and SEMA Garage.

“Bronco was an iconic vehicle that was many things to many people,” said Leno. “The Bronco was bought to use on the farm or to take your date to the prom and was comfortable in any of these environments. The idea of having a classic Bronco upgraded with modern handling, performance and braking really makes it the best of both worlds.”

Ford Performance and SEMA Garage pulled out all the stops with updating and upgrading this beauty, collaborating with some of the restoration industry’s elite, including Kincer Chassis and Dennis Carpenter. Kincer Chassis built the Bronco’s chassis and installed the powertrain, including the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine from the Shelby GT500. Dennis Carpenter Ford Restoration Parts supplied the Bronco’s body panels while SEMA Garage integrated their computer-aided design, 3D printing, and calibration work.

For the final stages of the restoration, LGE-CTS Motorsports, an award winning and women-owned shop, provided the 68’ Bronco Wagon with new sheet metal, custom body mods, a paint job, and the final assembly. Leno’s fully restored and upgraded 1968 Bronco was on display at the 2019 SEMA show this past week. If you missed it, the Bronco will also appear on an upcoming episode of Jay Leno’s Garage on CNBC and will be displayed in detail on Jay Leno’s Garage on YouTube.
