Ford Performance recently announced upgrades to the 2020 Ford GT supercar including increased engine power and improved cooling. The 2020 model year will also be released in two appearance options: all-new liquid carbon and a throwback heritage edition.

The 2020 Ford GT is equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 engine delivering 660 horsepower. This engine features a broader torque band and revised engine calibration for improved performance from the 2017-2019 GT supercar model. After testing with the limited-edition, track-only GT Mk II, Ford also upgraded the 2020 Ford GT supercar’s engine to include gallery-cooled pistons and higher-energy ignition coils.

“Ford GT continues to be the pinnacle of Ford performance,” said Ed Krenz, Ford Performance chief program engineer. “GT is always the ultimate expression of Ford racing innovation, and as we know from the 1966 Le Mans through today, that means constantly raising our game for our customers as well as earning the checkered flag.”

The 2020 Ford GT will also receive a premium Akrapovič titanium exhaust standard. This new standard exhaust offers a reduction in nine pounds from the previously used exhaust system.

The new edition will also be available in two appearance options: Liquid Carbon and a restyled Gulf Racing heritage livery that pays homage to Ford’s 1969 Le Mans win. The GT Liquid Carbon focuses on the GT’s lightweight sculpted carbon fiber body and is free of paint color. It receives a special clearcoat and features standard carbon fiber wheels.

“This next chapter in the Ford GT story allows us to fully demonstrate our mastery in both the art and science of carbon fiber craftsmanship and finishing,” said Angus Smith, General Manager of Multimatic Niche Vehicles, North America. “The results of this ongoing partnership between Multimatic and Ford Performance speak for themselves, as each visually stunning and unique Liquid Carbon GT is a manufacturing marvel, showcasing the characteristics and nuances inherent in carbon fiber composites.”

Deliveries of the upgraded 2020 Ford GT are ongoing; however, production is set to wrap up in 2022. Make sure to get your hands on yours before it’s too late at Keller Bros Ford in Lebanon! Stop by the lot today, and our dedicated sales team will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
