2024 Super Duty Takes Top Spot in APEAL Study

J.D. Power and Associates has just recently released the findings of their annual Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout, or APEAL, study. This yearly report covers a wide range of topics, including design, performance, safety, usability, comfort, perceived quality, and more in an effort to provide a detailed assessment of what new cars will give customers the best experience over the first ninety days following their purchase. Ford had a successful year in the 2024 APEAL study, gaining the title of most appealing large heavy-duty pickup for the 2024 Ford F-Series Super Duty.

The J.D. Power APEAL study asks participants to rate over 40 distinct experiences they have with their new vehicle in an effort to quantify and measure owners’ emotional attachment to and level of satisfaction with their new car. These experience fall into ten different categories:

• Walking up to the vehicle
• Setting up and starting the vehicle
• Getting in and out of the vehicle
• The vehicle’s interior
• The vehicle’s powertrain
• The vehicle’s driving feel
• The vehicle’s safety
• The vehicle’s infotainment system
• The vehicle’s driving comfort
•  The vehicle’s fuel usage

This broad range of subjects contributes to the APEAL study’s comprehensive examination of the kind of experience a car can provide.

The North American Car, Truck, Utility Vehicle of the Year jury named the 2024 Super Duty the 2024 North American Truck of the Year in January, and J.D. Power recently named the 2021 Super Duty the most dependable large heavy-duty pickup out of many vehicles evaluated. These ratings may not be unexpected for one of America’s favorite trucks and a member of the Ford F-Series, but they are nonetheless honors that the Ford team is thrilled to have earned.
