BlueCruise Becomes Available in Europe

Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology has now become accessible in fifteen European countries thanks to recent approval from the European Commission.

Users can now traverse more than 82,744 miles of approved roads, or “Blue Zones,” across Europe, including cross-border driving. BlueCruise can now be used to drive hands-free through trips like a 1,864-mile, 25-hour journey across six countries from Sweden to Italy.

Thanks to this approval, Ford customers can now enjoy BlueCruise in 17 different countries worldwide. This includes the following countries: America, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden. 

In 2023, BlueCruise made its official debut in the United Kingdom as the first system of its kind to obtain regulatory certification. Additionally, it was the first cutting-edge driver assistance technology in Europe to enable safe, hands-free driving at highway speeds. Furthermore, Ford was the first automaker in Spain to receive approval and introduce hands-free highway driving. 

BlueCruise can ensure that drivers arrive at their destination with more energy and less fatigue, whether they’re commuting to work in traffic or taking long road trips. The average person drives for around one hour each day, according to AAA. This can be mentally and physically draining as well as stressful. The 2025 Ford Explorer and 2025 Lincoln Aviator SUVs are among the other electric, hybrid, and gas-powered Ford and Lincoln vehicles that Ford is already making available with BlueCruise as a feature in North America this year. Beginning this summer with the launch of the Aviator, BlueCruise will be available on all Lincoln U.S. vehicles. 

American drivers have reported how BlueCruise improves their driving hours. F-150 Lightning owner Peter Lamarine said, “BlueCruise changed what was a completely boring, monotonous ride to something that is now enjoyable. The worst part of my day is work, and the best part is driving to and from work.” 

Currently, over 420,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles with BlueCruise are in operation throughout the globe. Customers in the US and Canada have accumulated over 213 million hands-free miles in addition to over 3.1 million hours of BlueCruise use, and the numbers are only going up from there.
