Ford Bronco 4600 Secures Triple Crown at King of the Hammers

February 12th, 2024 by

For the third consecutive year, the Ford Bronco 4600 has emerged victorious, retaining its crown as the King of the Hammers in the demanding off-road race. This year’s triumph not only underscores the Bronco’s off-road prowess but also showcases its resilience and capability in tackling the harshest terrains. The remarkable feat was achieved in the turnkey, race-ready stock class, further solidifying the Bronco’s reputation as a true off-road champion.

Brad Lovell, behind the wheel of the Bronco 4600, secured his third consecutive pole position, setting the stage for an exciting race. However, it was Bailey Cole who stole the spotlight, navigating the challenging course and clinching his first-ever King of the Hammers 4600 class crown. Cole’s victory led a record-breaking field of six Broncos, demonstrating the model’s dominance in this rugged competition.

Reflecting on the challenging course, Cole remarked, “We knew going into this year that it was going to be a rough course. I thought that there might be opportunities to take creative lines to get an advantage, and the Bronco just performed regardless of what we threw at it. We got into an early lead and kept it rolling. Man, I can’t believe it. This feels amazing. To do this in Bronco has me on cloud nine. When we came across the finish line, and I got the No. 1 from my dad, it was so special.”

The last three seasons have seen the Bronco firmly establish itself as one of the most capable stock class contenders in the King of the Hammers event. With an unprecedented sweep of the podium in its first two years, the Bronco has consistently showcased its Built Wild credentials. Even amidst formidable competition, Loren Healy and Vaughn Gittin Jr., winners of the event in the past two years, secured a hard-fought second place despite encountering multiple challenges during the race.

Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports, emphasized the significance of King of the Hammers as a true test for Bronco products. “King of the Hammers, undoubtedly, remains one of the truest tests for our Bronco products. It has been the venue for many developments to make Bronco even better for customers worldwide. We’re happy to see our success continue for a third year in a row, but it’s even more satisfying to see more Broncos in the field. It’s a testament to our continual development and passion behind our off-road program.”

King of the Hammers stands as one of the premier off-road events globally, serving as the inaugural race in the 2024 Ultra4 Racing season. Known for its unpredictability and brutality, this year’s race was no exception. Competitors faced a multitude of challenges, from navigating large rock formations to conquering deep silt and high-speed lake beds. Despite the adversities, the Bronco once again rose to the occasion, triumphing in a highly competitive field and solidifying its status as the off-road leader of the pack.

The victory at King of the Hammers not only adds another chapter to the Bronco’s illustrious off-road legacy but also reinforces its position as a symbol of Built Wild capability. As Ford continues to push the boundaries of off-road innovation, the Bronco stands as a testament to the brand’s commitment to delivering exceptional performance and durability in the most challenging environments.
