May 27th, 2024 by

Ford Motor Company has once again solidified its position as the leading American automaker, excelling in vehicle assembly, exports, and employment of hourly workers. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Ford has claimed the top spot, as confirmed by the latest data from S&P Global Mobility.

“Ford is a uniquely American company,” stated Andrew Frick, President of Ford Blue. “We are proud to serve our customers with vehicles that embody the best of American innovation and ingenuity.”

Ford’s dedication to American manufacturing is evident in its workforce and production numbers. The company employs about 57,000 hourly manufacturing workers in the U.S., more than any other automaker. This workforce is expanding, with training underway for a new third crew at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant. This expansion includes nearly 900 new hires who will be assembling the iconic Bronco and Ranger vehicles.

In 2023, Ford assembled over 1.8 million vehicles in the U.S., outpacing its competitors by 130,000 units. This impressive output includes the best-selling F-Series truck franchise, which features gas-powered, hybrid, and electric pickup trucks. These vehicles are assembled across various American plants in Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky, and Ohio. Remarkably, more than 79% of the vehicles Ford sells in the U.S. are assembled domestically, surpassing all other automakers.

Ford also leads in vehicle exports. In 2023, the company exported 260,000 American-assembled vehicles, including the F-150, Bronco, and Mustang, to international markets. This figure is the highest among all auto manufacturers. Approximately one in every seven vehicles Ford assembles in the U.S. is destined for countries like Canada, Mexico, China, Puerto Rico, and South Korea.

Beyond its manufacturing prowess, Ford’s economic impact extends to its extensive dealership network. Ford and Lincoln collectively have over 2,800 dealerships across the U.S., creating thousands of additional jobs in the communities they serve. This network not only supports local economies but also ensures that Ford customers receive top-notch service and support.

Ford’s commitment to quality and community is central to its success. By maintaining a strong manufacturing base in the U.S., Ford ensures that its vehicles meet the highest standards of craftsmanship and reliability. Moreover, the company’s dedication to training and employing American workers underscores its role as a key player in the U.S. economy.

As Ford continues to lead in vehicle assembly, export, and employment, the company remains focused on innovation and sustainability. The inclusion of hybrid and electric trucks in its best-selling F-Series lineup highlights Ford’s commitment to environmentally friendly solutions and future-forward technology.

In conclusion, Ford Motor Company’s achievements are a testament to its enduring legacy of American innovation, quality, and community support. As the No. 1 American automaker, Ford continues to set the standard in the automotive industry, driving forward with a clear vision for the future.
