Ford Teams up with Sydney Sweeney to Create Custom Mustang

It’s the chance of a lifetime for one lucky fan! Ford is collaborating with actress and auto enthusiast Sydney Sweeney to create and give away a custom 2024 Ford Mustang, designed by the actress to get as close as possible to her dream vehicle, based on her 1965 Mustang named Britney.

Sweeney, who hails from a family of mechanics in Spokane, Washington, learned to drive on her great-grandfather’s Ford F-100. She also restored a 1969 Ford Bronco during the Covid-19 pandemic, gaining a large audience as she documented the process on Tiktok.

“It’s heartening to see Ford celebrate individuals who are pushing past stereotypes to do what they love,” Sweeney said. “That’s why I was so excited to work with Ford on designing my dream car, and I can’t wait to surprise someone special with a matching vehicle.”

The contest was designed to celebrate those who pursue their passions in spite of stereotypes. This isn’t Sweeney’s only project with the company– she’s also been involved in two Ford x Sydney Sweeney exclusive workwear collections, and has launched an Auto 101 social series and online lookbook to help teach viewers how to check their vehicle tire pressure, jump a dead battery, and other aspects of vehicle maintenance. The series aims to inspire women to feel more comfortable working on their vehicles. 

Ford will build two of Sweeney’s special custom Mustang– one for the actress herself, and one to be gifted to the winner of the contest. Featuring a blend of both retro and modern aesthetics, this unique robin’s egg blue vehicle will showcase customized textures, embellishments, and even Sweeney’s signature emblazoned on the car.

Each generation has its own distinct personality, but at their core, they embody a spirit of disruption, edge, and undeniable allure,” said Laurie Transou, Ford Mustang chief engineer. “Sydney’s interpretation of the Mustang captures this essence perfectly, reflecting the expressive and individualistic nature of those who are drawn to this iconic vehicle.”
